Complete renovation of a large 18th century manor house in Finland, restoring the original interior. All existing floors were demolished and the beams underneath were replaced or added. New floors were then laid throughout the house, totally over 1,000 square metres.

The choice of flooring was Versaille and herringbone parquet in solid Antique reclaimed oak. The parquet is made in the old French tradition, with no glue or anything else to hold the pieces together. All parts of Versaille are joined with wooden dowels and by hand. The size of the Versaille panels is 1000 x 1000mm with a thickness of 23mm solid Antique oak.
In all wet areas it was decided to make the Versaille panels in Antique Recycled Teak with a size of 800 x 800mm.
All wood flooring was glued to the existing new subfloor. The parquet was then sanded and finished with hard wax oil and finally Wood Butter.

Antique reclaimed oak carries a sense of history and nostalgia and often retains marks and scars from its previous life, such as nail holes, saw marks and other signs of wear and tear. These imperfections tells a story and add to give the wood a rustic and authentic look. Knowing that the wood comes from old buildings adds a certain layer of meaning and significance to the material.
Plank in the guest house
In the guest house, the choice was made to install wooden floors made of Antique Recycled Oak. The planks were kept with their original patina. The planks are in varying widths from 120-220mm and a length of up to 4 metres.
